High-temp exhaust coating
Headers, exhaust manifolds, turbo manifolds, downpipes, piping and exhaust tips, coated in Cerakote’s Glacier series high-temp ceramic, rated to 1,800°F. We stock black, silver and bronze and mix them for the shades in between. Done in-house at our shop in Plano, serving Dallas–Fort Worth. Send us photos of the parts for a quote.
Process
How we coat exhaust parts
-
Send photos
Send a few photos of the parts and tell us the color. Price depends on how much pipe there is and its shape, so we quote from what we see.
-
Strip and blast
Old coating, rust and carbon come off. Parts are preheated to burn off contamination, then sandblasted to clean bare metal so the coating has something to grip.
-
Coat and cure
Sprayed in Cerakote’s Glacier series, a thin ceramic coating made for exhaust heat, then cured before the parts go home.

What we coat
Headers and long tubes, exhaust and turbo manifolds, the hot side of a turbo, downpipes, piping, heat shields and exhaust tips, for cars, trucks and motorcycles. Parts come to us off the vehicle.
Why Cerakote on exhaust
Powder coat is the tougher finish for most of what we do, but it is not made for exhaust temperatures. For anything that carries exhaust gas we use Cerakote’s Glacier series, a ceramic coating made for it: rated for continuous temperatures up to 1,800°F, with the color holding to about 1,300°F. It keeps rust off the pipes and gives headers and manifolds a clean, even finish that looks right in an engine bay.
Colors
We stock Glacier Black (C-7600), silver and bronze, and mix them for the colors in between: a 90/10 or 80/20 mix of black and silver gives a dark graphite. Most headers leave here in Glacier Black or Glacier Silver.
Not the ceramic coating for paint
Ceramic coating for a car’s paint is a detailing product that protects the clear coat. This is a coating for the metal of the exhaust itself. We also put a protective ceramic coating over wheels we have powder coated.
Track car? Calipers that see real heat get Cerakote too: see brake caliper powder coating.

FAQ
High-temp coating questions
How much does it cost to coat headers or an exhaust?
It depends on how much pipe there is, its shape and the color, so we quote each job from photos. Send a few pictures of the parts with the quote form or text them to us, and we reply with a price.
Is high-temp ceramic coating the same as ceramic coating for paint?
No. Ceramic coating for paint is a detailing product that protects a car’s clear coat. High-temp ceramic coating is a finish for the metal of the exhaust itself: headers, manifolds, downpipes and pipes. We also offer a protective ceramic coating over wheels we have powder coated.
What temperature can high-temp Cerakote handle?
The Glacier series we use on exhaust is rated by Cerakote for continuous temperatures up to 1,800°F, and the color holds to about 1,300°F. That is far past what powder coat can take, which is why headers, manifolds and downpipes get Cerakote and not powder.
